There is no doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo’s purchase from Real Madrid was an excellent decision. The first impact of the Portuguese in the Serie A club was the selling of 520,000 Ronaldo jerseys within 24 hours of his transfer being made official, according to The Guardian.
At a cost of $120 for the jersey, that’s $62.4 million in total revenue.
Then there’s the increase in attendances and, of course, on-field success. Ronaldo helped the Old Lady win an eighth-straight Serie A title in his first season at the club.
And Juventus have grown significantly on social media in the year since Ronaldo’s move.
The Italian giants boasted 10 million followers on Instagram before they signed the Portugal international. That has now increased to 31.1 million followers.
Which amounts to an increase of more than 20 million and now means that Juventus have more followers on Instagram than Manchester United.
The Red Devils, who have been on a download slump for a few years now, have 31 million followers.
Ronaldo himself has a colossal 131 million fans. He’s the most-followed athlete on social media.
