Ashley Cole has been appointed as the Under 15 coach of Chelsea following his retirement from professional football. The former Chelsea defended will work under former team-mage Frank Lampard. He was also under Lampard as a player while at Derby.
Acting as a guest of UEFA for the Europa League draw in Monaco on Friday, Cole outlined that it was time for him to enter the next chapter of his career.
‘I’ve worked under some great managers, took a lot from them so I will go back to Chelsea and work with their under-15s and see where it goes from there,’ said the former England international.
After coming through the youth ranks at Arsenal, he made a controversial switch to rivals Chelsea in 2006 before finishing his career with spells at Roma, LA Galaxy and finally Derby at the end of last season.
